Adams Freshmen win 40-28 over N. FarmingtonThe Adams Freshmen Highlanders continued their winning ways, this time with a win on the road over N. Farmington 40-28 on Thursday September 27th. The final score was really no indication of the flow of the game as Adams scored early and often and N. Farmington came back late in the game to put some points on the board. Adams opened the scoring on their first possession starting from their own 45. Chris Young ran around left end for the touchdown and a 7-0 Adams lead with just over 2 minutes into the game. N. Farmington’s opening drive resulted in a punt thanks to a procedure penalty and a sack by defensive tackle Sukhman Sidhu. Sidhu had 3 sacks on the day and along with his defensive teammates applied pressure the entire game on the opposing quarterback. Adams second drive featured the running of quarterback Andrew Hammett and the receiving of Brad Nylen. Nylen caught a 17 yard strike from Hammet that set up a 19 Yard TD catch to make it 13-0 Adams at the end of the 1rst quarter. Midway thru the 2nd quarter, Andrew Hammett scampered 43 yards with several juke moves all the way down the field for a touchdown and a 20-0 Adams lead. On the next possession, N. Farmington started from their own 14 when Linebacker Alec Trumble intercepted a pass and took it to the ‘house’ for the TD and a 27-0 Adams lead with 5 Minutes remaining in the 1rst half. From there N. Farmington started on their own 13 and drove to their 32 where the drive stalled. Brad Nylen blocked his 2nd punt in 2 weeks to give Adams the ball at the N. Farmington 28 yard line. Adams drove it deep into the N. Farmington zone and graciously took a knee to end the half at 27-0. Adams scored on their first possession of the 2nd half set up by a 17 yard catch by Jacob Boyle. Andrew Hammett found Brad Nylen again, this time for 17 yards for the TD and a 33-0 Adams lead. A 30 yard pass completion to Mario Roveda set up a Matt Nestor 12 yard TD run over left tackle Paul Mikhjan to end the scoring for Adams at 40-0. N. Farmington scored 4 times late in the game to excite their players and fans as they never gave up and worked hard all game long. Now the young Highlanders return home on Wednesday October 3rd vs. Famington. The Frosh have the wind at their back as the Highlander train rolls down the track…ALL ABOARD!! Go Highlanders!!
