Freshman Highlanders Beat Harrison 50-14

The Rochester Adams freshman Highlanders extended their win streak to two games this young season with a 50-14 win over Farmington Hills Harrison on August 30th. A bright, sunny afternoon was the setting for the start of what promises to be a heated rivalry between these two teams for the next 4 years.
Boy did the rivalry start off with a bang! Sean Geraci received the kickoff and combined nifty moves with his blazing speed to go 60 yards for a touchdown. The 2 pt. Conversion was unsuccessful but just like that, 6-0 Adams before anyone could get comfortable in their seats. Harrison started the next drive at their 39 and made a couple of first downs until the Adams defense really stiffened up. Several tackles to stuff the run by Spencer Cairo and a sack for an 11 yard loss by Mario Roveda stopped the Harrison momentum. Adams started the next drive at their own 7 and drove to the the 47, when Darrian Bell ran over left guard and broke free making some great cutback moves on his way to the end zone. The 2 point conversion this time was good thanks to a Jordan Gowman run over right tackle Paul Mikhjian , to make it 14-0 with 3:36 left in the first quarter.

After a 3 and out by Harrison, Adams started at their 48 and drove to the Harrison 7 when quarterback Andrew Hammett ran it in from there to make it 20-0. Midway thru the 2nd quarter Adams made it 28-0 behind the legs of Jordan Gowman who ran 35 yards for the TD.
Harrison started to build momentum when with 18 seconds left in the half they completed a 24 yard pass for a TD. A successful 2 point conversion made it 28-8 at the half. The momentum continued for Harrison when they started their first 2nd half possession from their own 33 and marched 8 plays into the end zone to make it a game at 28-14.

After 3 and outs from both sides, Adams went on an 8 play, 65 yard drive of their own that saw Andrew Hammett make several great runs, culminated by a run around left end for the TD. A successful 2 point conversion made it 34-14 with 10:57 left in the game. The Adams Defense shut down Harrison the rest of the way, the offense however was not done. Another Jordan Gowman Touchdown, and a 34 yard run for TD by Sean Geraci sealed the victory for the Highlanders.
Harrison started to come back in this game, yet the defense shut them down when needed, and the Adams offense simply has too many weapons.

Now the Frosh get another big test. This time with their first home game of the 2007 season when Lake Orion comes marching in on Wednesday September 5th. This promises to be a good one !
Keep it going boys…The momentum is just starting.
GO HIGHLANDERS!!
