A clear crisp evening signaled the early signs of autumn as the Highlander fans filled the stands. The Pontiac Northern Huskies had to know that the Highlanders would not let their guard down for their Homecoming game.

The Huskies first possession ended in a punt when junior, Joe Bernard came up with a key play. The Highlanders offense took over but promptly gave the ball back to Pontiac on an interception. The Highlander defense stood strong and returned the ball back to the Highlander offense. The second drive showcased several players that made contributions allowing the Highlanders to get on the board. First down running plays by Cory Hamilton, Josh Renel and Jake Ball coupled with a well executed 8 yard pass to senior Nick Morrin moved the ball down to the 8 yard line. On third down and five, Quarterback Jake Ball rambled in for a touchdown. Bryan Kimball added the P. A. T.

The Huskies next drive started on their own 4-yard line thanks to a clipping penalty call on the kick return team. Senior, Nick Benacquisto pressured the QB on 3 rd and 21 forcing the Huskies to punt. With the football spotted on the 34-yard line, the Highlander offense struck again after Jake Ball’s 24-yard run and Cory Hamilton’s 6-yard blast to the 2-yard line. Jake Ball scored on a 2 yard QB sneak. The P. A. T. kick by Kimball was good.
